School Field

Another morning in the School Field and the children are back at the Trim Trail going on a trip on the beams, seeing if we can stand on the spaced walk way, some of the children have been balancing on the walkway. Some of the children went to the gate to see if there was anyone walking past or coming through the tunnel.

There is a tree in the corner of the school field which has a hole and we think the fairies live in it (but we haven’t seen them yet), so the children were waiting to see if they would appear and then before leaving the field we were back at the allotment to see how much more the Daffodils had grown.

Making Playdough

The children have helped to make some Blue Playdough for the start of term. Before starting the children put an apron on and I have them a bowl and spoon. We mixed together flour, salt, oil and coloured water to make our Playdough. Sarah and Jordin had to help the children finish off the mixing as it was not coming together. Once we had the Playdough into a ball, the children were able to play with it using the rolling pins, cutters and scissors.

Jackie found the large little trikes track we had put away and the children were helping to build it back up, but it was cut sort as it started to rain heavy.

Calendars

Jackie’s Activity is to make a Calendar for the following year. For the background the children made handprints with different colours of paint. Once they were dried, Sarah had printed some photographs of the children taking part in different activities over the past couple of months and the children glued these on to the handprinted paper and they picked a piece of card for it to be stuck on and then they were laminated to last the next year. After the laminated sheet had cooled down the children helped to make holes in it and then threaded some ribbon through for them to hand up and the last thing to do is to glue on the calendar tab for 2024.

The children had a selection of sandwiches, teddy faces, chocolate fingers, party rings, carrots and cucumber sticks.

But when we were in the hall, we missed a visit from Santa, but he left the children a bag full of presents which Jackie gave out. We hope all the children had a great fun playing all the games and eating our party dinner.

Snowman Name

Another activity Jordin has done with the children is a name snowman. To start the children had to count out how many circles they would need to make up their names and then they had to add an extra one for the snowman’s face. The children glued a little bit of each circle and stuck them together and once this was completed, Jordin wrote the letters of each child’s name on the circle. For the Snowman’s Face the children glued a hat, 2 googly eyes and a orange nose.

Christmas Cards

This year for the children’s Christmas Cards to made Handprint Santa. We started by getting the children to make a white handprint on the front of their card. Once the paint had dried the children made up their card. We started by gluing in a Merry Christmas sentiment and then children wrote their names inside with some help.

The next step was to finish the front of the card, by the children choosing 2 goggly eyes to stick on the handprint along with a piece of tissue paper scrunched up for the nose. For Santa’s Hat, Sarah had cut out a Hat shaped of sticky shiny paper and the children needed to pull the backing off and stick it on the top of the Santa’s Head and they had to push it down to make sure it has stuck down. To give the Santa the finishing touches, the children picked a white glittery pom pom to the point of his hat.

Children in Need

Every year we like to take part in Children in Need. This year we asked that the children came in wearing spots, dots or dressed in their favourite outfits, we had a selection of different outfits. Our activities over Thursday and Friday had a spots and dots theme. On the Carpet we had a Tuff Tray with pom poms, tweezers, pots and circles. The children could either pick the pom poms up and put them in the pots or on the corresponding coloured circles.

Jordin had drawn a Pudsey with a blank eye bandana, the children helped to decorate it with different coloured spots and when the glue had dried we hung Pudsey on the wall. In our small table, there was coloured buttons for the children to thread on to coloured laces. Everyone had a great day taking part in all the activities.

To start with, the children tried banana, if they liked it they got half and used the plastic knifes to cut it into slices.

Then there was slices of apple, half grapes and oranges, for the children to try, using tweezers to pick them up rather than fingers. Ella tried everything.
