Making Pizza

To make our pizzas the children washed their hands and popped a cookery apron on and sat at the table. Kelly explained to the children what we were going to do. One child added the pizza dough mixture to the bowl, then someone added the water and the children took it in turns to knead the mixture.

Once the dough was kneaded for 5 minutes and then we had to roll the dough out and let it rise for 10 minutes. After proving Kelly cut out some circles then the children were able to add their toppings.

The started to add their topping from Cheese, Sweetcorn, Ham & Parsley. The children added some tomato purée, spreading it on the dough on and the children who stayed during the afternoon session were able to eat their pizza at snack time (if they wanted).

Easter Basket

Sarah wanted to do some Marble Painting with the children and thought making some Easter Eggs to go in a basket. To start with the Marble Painting the children had to pick 4 different colours of ink and the children had squeeze 4 drops of ink onto the water mixture. We watched the ink move and mix together, then the children were given a plastic mixer to mix the inks up to make different patterns. Sarah then added some white card and we counted to 5 and she picked the card up and we were able to see the different patterns and colours.

Once the ink was dried, Sarah cut out 1 big and 4 small eggs. The children glued the top of the basket and handle which we stuck together making the basket. They also had to glue a ‘Happy Easter’ sentiment onto the bottom of the basket and he added a chick sticker. Next up, I asked the children to put glue on the bottom of 3 little eggs, which I stuck to the opposite of the basket and then I added the larger egg to complete our Easter Basket.

We enjoy our time outside, whether that is in the school yard or the field. In the school field we have been using the magnifying glasses and binoculars to look at the trees and daffodils to see what was hiding.

In the school yard the children have enjoyed chasing and popping the bubbles, building with the wooden blocks, having a cafe at the kitchen and exploring in the sand tray. We also had the outdoor toys available for the children to use but the children have to take it in turns to go on the taxi or trike.

They took it in turns to spoon the kernels into their bowls before then pouring or spooning it into the ducks head, Karen tipped into the Popcorn Duck and switched it on. The children stood at the Water tray watching and listening to the kernels as they dropped into a large bowl.

After the kernels had popped the children were able to give them and try and they even got to take some home as well.

Kelly has been making Love Posters with the children. She has started off by drawing around the children’s hand and cutting it out. Using masking tape to make the letters L, V & E and sticking these onto a piece of card along with the children’s handprint.

The children used pom poms held in cloths pegs to dip in paint and make lot’s of different coloured spots over the masking tape. There was blue, red & pink paint to choose from.

Once the paint had dried, Kelly started to peel off the masking tape and the handprint to reveal the word ‘Love.’ We now have the pictures displayed on the wall.
